Having loved 'C.R.A.Z.Y.' to bits, this doesn't even begin to measure up. I suspect that I simply didn't get it.

Beautifully crafted, most notably the soundtrack, but it didn't really connect for me. I have a hard time with movies like these, where most of their runtime I don't understand what's going on.

After reading up on it, I think I'm starting to grasp what this movie was going for. It "engages the heart more than the brain" and "requires a leap of faith". It's admirable in many regards, but as a cinematic experience it didn't do much for me. I was waiting for the pieces to fall into place and they never quite did, making this movie feel like a Throw Everything At The Wall And See What Sticks kind of movie. Oh well, this just wasn't for me.

After a very promising debut with C.R.A.Z.Y, Jean-Marc Vallée returns to Québécois film-making with this exquisitely crafted auteur's tapestry of tales layered together with much finesse and subtlety. It's a film about family relationships and unconditional love, but characters are also connected in metaphysical ways across space and time. The way Vallée continually explores this through his editing and clever visual sleight-of-hand, is marvellous to watch. Simply packed with talent, a must-see.

I really liked this film a lot. It was a little confusing with the time jumps and how it was in French (not my native language). But it was beautifully made and the acting was superb.

The living for oneself or others themes and their 'resolution' didn't add up for me. Much like TYV by JMV, I liked the production a lot but the narrative less.

until the twist, 2 parallel stories were beautifully told but didnt work together at all...the use of music and the whole soundtrack are just amazing (and maybe it's the glue for the movie at times when it's falling apart)

I really enjoyed this. It was compelling and unusual and there were some really beautiful sequences. I think it would merit a second watch.

At first interchanging stories were a bit hard to follow, then I couldn't figure how they are connected, after the twist I was left thinking 'well, this is kind of fucked up'. It's a n unusual story, but it works. The best things about this film is how easy and pleasant it is to watch it. Very good use of music, nice cinematography, some natural emotions... This might be the best less known movie from 2011.
