More serious than most of the cheapy westerns I've seen from this era and George 'Gabby' Hayes is surprisingly good in a serious role.

The 4th Hopalong Cassidy movie goes a little on the dark side with George 'Gabby' Hayes as the main bad guy and James Ellison with a heavy gambling problem, which gives William Boyd a lot of trust issues this time. The more troubled dilemma also gives the main character more of a chance to explore their characters and it becomes interesting because it's a little different then their other films together. Yet, another Hopalong Cassidy that entertains.
