Master filmmaker Costa-Gavras (Z, Missing) tackles the world of international high finance in this jet-setting, globetrotting drama about the closed-doors intrigue and high-stakes power plays at a French financial giant. This is the story of the unstoppable ascent of Marc Tourneuil, an expendable servant of the Capital who became its undisputed master. (tiff.net)

Top notch film, highly recommended. A far-reaching epic to the likes of The Godfather.

The only thing I was missing was Gabriel Byrne`s accent. Nothing else was there to be missed.

more realistic and effective than The Wolf of Wall Street and its Hollywood delusions and titillations. it focuses not just personal greed and corruption, but financial capitalism and its institutions as a whole system

Even more cynical about current times than "Lord of War"...

Costa-Gavras/Grumberg are names that ensure an expertly crafted text-driven political drama, and that's what Capital is. Proper acting, pretty photography, tight editing, razor-sharp dialogue... you'd be hard-pressed to find flaws in any aspect of it, save for the overarching idea of this film, which frankly isn't great. The makers' foreknown loathing of "capital" and of banks renders it all a bit transparent and shallow, even over-comfortable in a way.
