A well written movie with superb acting by Philip Seymour Hoffman. While not an absolutely fantastic film in itself, Hoffman's acting is amazing and makes this film a must see.

I can recognize how amazing PSH's performance is (seriously, has he had a bad one yet?) but this film drags and drags and draggggggggggggs. I just don't give a shit about his character or anyone in this movie.

Very good performances from the entire cast (including a few great ones from Hoffman and Collins Jr.) make up for the slow and deliberate pace of the film. While it's enjoyable and engaging, it's also an incredibly dry and trying film. As much as I was taken in by the performances and wanted to see how things played out, it's also fairly predictable, and I was glad it was over afterward. Hoffman fully deserved the Oscar for this, but the man could be nominated for nearly every role he takes on.

I am starting to think that I need to grade PSH movies on a curve because I just can't really seem to find one that I dislike. I enjoy his portrayal of Capote as he works to get the information to complete his famous book In Cold Blood, and the struggles that he has between his relationship with the actual people involved and his own hunger for more literary success. The guy who plays Perry the inmate is pretty darn good too. Makes me want to go back and reread the book.

A fantastic biopic that merges an impeccable impersonation/ performance from Hoffman, and a murder mystery, as we follow Capote on his investigation of the perpetrators that informed his book "In Cold Blood".

A solid film with specacular acting by Hoffman. However, I never felt like I was a part of this movie, never felt like I was privileged to know how anyone REALLY felt. At the end, despite a death, I felt empty, numb, which I'm certain isn't the aim of the film. However, I don't know much about the book or its impact on society (time to check Wikipedia!), and this was a great film to fill one in.

Everyone has pretty much said all there is to say about the PSH performance. Everytime I saw him on the screen, he WAS the character. That's how acting works. Unfortunately, the movie did a fair amount of dragging. Clifton Collins was great as well, but it was just an average flick.

Good, solid performance by Hoffman, but the film itself seemed lacking. I can't say what, but it just lacked some sort of emotional oomph to give this movie the impact it needed. Still, a very well acted and beautiful looking movie. The average viewer may be bored by this film.

Hoffman is amazing, but the movie fails to provide the emotional connection that makes you sympathise with Capote's state of mind towards the end of the film. I feel this is partly due to a script that could have used some extra revision and partly due to the fact that Clifton Collins Jr. simply could not hold his weight against the power performance from Hoffman. I find it unfortunate that it eventually just comes off as a Hoffman vehicle, because this had the potential to be a true classic.

I've never read In Cold Blood and really had no prior knowledge of Truman Capote going into this film. Despite that, Hoffman's performance is brilliant and entertaining to the point that he carries the otherwise standard biopic on his shoulders the entire time.

Philip Seymour Hoffman is probably my favorite actor. His acting is powerful, engulfing and precise. This film is the current highlight of his career, although he usually steals the show with his smaller roles as well, as for him there's apparently no such thing. He is the most versatile actor I've seen. Captivating story, electrifying performance (Hoffman's made me wanna go around donning a scurf presenting myself as "Truman Capote, The New Yorker" in a nasal voice).

A year after seeing Capote, I sat down to watch Infamous and loe and behold, what do I find? That the once revered Capote with its model-of subtlety style and anti septic atmosphere finally struck me as somewhat false- Capote was a dirty little man. Other than that, this is a top notch production with great performances painting the colorful characters in Truman's life. Philip Seymour Hoffman is of course one of our great actors, and his work here mostly earned the Oscar he got (I say mostly because Ledger should have won for Brokeback Mountain). It's a very well made movie and Phillip Hoffman certainly owns the Capote role. But these weren't enough to keep the movie afloat. It really only skimmed the surface on practically every aspect of the story. I felt as if I wasn't being told the whole story about any of the characters motives nor of what really happened. It just failed to captivate me, despite there being a couple of very strong scenes in the last act. Which is a shame, since the true story is extremely interesting.

Dazzling performance from Hoffman, the film seems interested in making clear that Truman never moved out of autobiography, as he suggests he will do in the films opening act. Rather, he seems always to be writing about himself, choosing Smith as something of a proxy to explore his own position in society's underbelly (as a gay man in the 50s and 60s) relative to the rest of society. What results is high tragedy, complicated by his own hubris as he orchestrates Smith's story.

The screenplay is fantastic. It's tight and makes you waiting for what could happen next. At first it seemed to me that Hoffman's performance was going to be a repeat of Foxx's bland impersonation branded as "acting", but this is not the case.
