Carson City

A well-made western with an exciting and satisfying conclusion. Raymond Massey makes a fine baddie, and De Toth directs the action sequences--especially the violent ones--so effectively that you can almost feel the punches.

Warner Bros used the Eastmancolor for the first time for Carson City (1952), and slaps the WarnerColor label on it. A color process that manages to look both bright and natural at the same time. Certainly did rugged Randolph Scott right! He's there to build the railway, but sabotage keeps happening, so we got to smoke out the villains. Everything that's centered around Scott is good, the rest was more a mixed bag of unfocused characters. But at least the star looked two-times the star.
