Cartoon All-Stars to the Rescue

This special was the Avengers: Endgame of its time. Seeing so many of my favorite cartoon characters onscreen together blew my little 9-year-old mind. Oh, and we get to hear Simon the Chipmunk say "marijuana."

The 80s were a strange time

This is the kind of project people make cocaine jokes about, ironically. It's bizarre, but not exactly detestable; if I had kids the rhetoric I'd use to warn them off drugs would be roughly the same. Vivid memories of being shown this in elementary school in 1995 or so, when the Saturday morning landscape was already very different--I definitely knew Garfield, Pooh, the Turtles, likely Bugs and Daffy, maybe Ducktales, but the Smurfs, Chipmunks, Muppet Babies, ALF, and Slimer were unknown to me.

I really wonder if the filmmakers realized their anti-drug homily consists entirely of the kid's imaginary friends bullying the shit out of him until he spontaneously decides to do a blanket rejection of all drugs ever.

Only watch for the fact that it's a Massive Multiplayer Crossover, on a scale very unlikely to happen again.

Escolhi especificamente este desenho com a dublagem do Danny Goldman para o Gênio Smurf porque me parecia ser a pior animação já criada pelo homem, dito e feito. It's pretty bizarre

I don't even know what to say here. Anyone who knows anything about drugs will be laughing their ass off or rolling their eyes--or both. And those who know nothing about drugs should stay away, lest they become misinformed. It's simplistic, sensationalistic, and generally inept; the "Cartoon All-Stars" on display are mostly tiresome (Alvin and the Chipmunks; Alf; Huey, Dewey, and Louie), and George C. Scott is a sadly lifeless villain. George H.W. and Barbara Bush give an inane introduction.
