Features a few amazing laughs. The story is a well-trodden one but Gervais has a flair for turning the mundane into something exceptionally fun to watch. While this isn't exceptional it is a good way to spend an hour and a half.

As a big fan of Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, I expect more of this. Is not awful, but it is predictable and unimportant, just wanted to see something more daring and original, what is not.

This turned out to be pretty much what I expected. And I don't mean that in a bad way. It was a nice marriage of the humour as well as the heartfelt intelligence I've come to expect from Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant. I liked the 70s style too. It was pretty formulaic and predictable overall though. I've seen the same sort of story a few times before. In the end, I enjoyed it. It was nice and had plenty of great, funny moments.

Cemetery Junction is an example of a film that is pretty good, but not great. It's entertaining, but also inconsistent in its delivery. The first two-thirds feel nothing like the final part, and this creates an amount of disconnect that makes the film seem like it isn't a complete package. However, it's still heartwarming, interesting and quite funny. It's nothing special, but it's a film that I had fun with while I was watching it.

Cliche after cliche is piled on with sledgehammer levels of subtlety. How did the men who made the brilliant Office produce this turkey?

Fairly likable. Nothing mind blowing as its all been done before but its got interesting characters and good writing. Enjoyable and nice to see a good film from Gervais/Merchant.

I kind of expected that I might quite enjoy this or at least wouldn't actively dislike it, but certainly did not expect to enjoy it just as much as I did. There may be plenty to criticise if you want to be be harsh, but why bother? This is a very pretty, genuinely funny, supremely written, and generally well performed uplifting drama. This films postives far outweigh any negatives. Cliché, but highly recommended if your looking for something lighthearted.

Cliche, which is a shame, since Gervais and Merchant's other work is so unexpected and fresh. Still, a nice little watch if you're in the mood for something light.

Felt more like a made-for-BBC movie than a theatrical release. The snide comments between Gervais and his mother were brilliant, but it left me wanting more as well as realizing that the movie isn't that funny. It's a decent coming-of-age film, not terrible in any respect, but also not great or enthralling.

A forgettable and bland romantic comedy. The only thing that made me laugh was the tattoo.

Enjoyable film, unlike Invention of Lying, with a great script and a lot of subtle funny parts. A serious topic portrayed in an engaging and humorous manner. I was surprised that Gervais and Merchant managed to pull it off!

Stephen Merchant and Gervais are the best things in this. Unfortunately, I'm talking about the little we see of them and not the plot/characters/really anything else here.

Unexpectedly sincere and heartfelt rumination on small-town British life circa 1973, which surprisingly works best when exploring the doubts and insecurities of its leading characters as they come of age. Unfortunately the screenplay is a hit-and-miss affair, with most of the adult characters awkward caricatures, and attempts at humour too often falling (again surprisingly) flat. Still, kudos to Gervais and Merchant for attempting a radical change of pace, and at least intermittently succeeding.

Gervais and Merchant have crafted a warm, engaging film. The 1973 setting is very nicely done, not just from an aesthetics but also an ideological standpoint, and the cast of actors is very convincing. Instead of being a mere nostalgia fest, "Cemetery Junction" brings to life a bittersweet story, both funny and moving, and yet, although it's not a one-trick pony, every plot thread ends just how you thought it would when it began.

Charming little movie with nice little moments, but... Yeah, Gervais, we know you're perfectly aware what a cliche you wrote and directed, and you even have the balls, so to speak, to laugh at it with us, but this is not an excuse. It is fourth level defense mechanism. Hint for the next time: give us more Merchant on screen.

I really liked this. It's a lovely story. Even got me a little teary. It's not standard Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant though. If you can put that aside, you might enjoy it as much as I did.

Man, I wanted to like this so badly. It felt a little too conventional. I was expecting something different. It's such a shame. I even wanted to fall for the ending like a sad sap, and I almost did, but the movie never earned that moment. I didn't really like the group of three friends. Somehow we've seen this same group of people in every movie, ever, and yet they remain unrealistic archetypes, not characters. I liked the movie, kinda, but with better characters it could have been great.

Soppy dramedy that relies on nostalgia rather than laughs but the period setting is convincing and there's a good cast.

An enjoyable, breezy coming of age story. Very funny throughout and manages to pack an emotional punch as well. The characters are likeable and there's great banter between Gervais and his mother. A nice sunday evening film.

Fun movie, albeit a bit predictable, with cardboard cutout characters. Also, some jokes (like the character 'Snork') were really overdone.

A real change of pace for Gervais and Merchant, who only have minor roles in this. It's a sweet, if slightly clichéd, coming-of-age tale. There's still a lot of genuinely funny moments, mostly taken from true events in Gervais' childhood (I remember a lot of them being talked about on his old radio show), but they take a back seat to the kitchen sink drama. Not a film I'd rush out to see, and judging by the box office performance everyone else felt the same, but a nice Sunday afternoon film.

Not at all what I expected. I watched it because it's something by Ricky Gervais, so I expected something more comedic. Still, I really liked the second half of it, even though I guess some might think it's a bit cliché'd.

Why did Gervais & Merchant bother with this? The story is taken straight off the rack; the (limited) humour - while genuinely funny at times - is so ill-fitting with the serious tone it's distracting; the directorial style is all over the place; the two leads are way too posh to convince as the working class Reading lads they're meant to be; and the less said about that final platform chase the better. Cemetery Junction might not be terrible, but it's certainly nothing you haven't seen before.
