Cemetery of Terror

Feels like two, maybe three different horror movies mashed together, but it's not wholly unenjoyable. We need to bring back the freeze frame ending, baby.

Cullen, Rayburn, Narz, Trebek ... Zabar, Kresge, Caldor, Walmart ... Kojak, Mannix, Banachek, Danno... Trojan, Ramses, Magnum, Sheik! Has an almost Fulci swagger to it in that I have no fucking idea what is going on just hold on and wait for help. Probably the only instance we have of a kid willingly wearing Michael Jackson on their back. Thanks I'll be here all week.

First half holds its own against 80’s U.S slashers and beats most when it comes to gore. It feels more American than the real thing(™). After the youth are killed, it surprisingly turns into Goonies/Monster Squad style horror-adventure which lowers the suspense as it’s quite obvious that these kids won’t suffer the same fate. Finally, it throws zombies in the mix. With a clearer focus this could have been a genre classic. It’s still entertaining, but feels like a missed opportunity.

This was a wild and surprisingly entertaining horror mishmash that was equal parts American slasher and Italian Zombie horror.

Well put together horror flick that then explodes into a gorefest around the 46 minute mark. Does the job, goes home. Nicely done.
