The first Laotian horror film doesn't exactly feel like a horror movie. Instead maybe better recognized as a drama that focuses on the morbid topic of death. At its best the film is a slow-burner psychological drama that focuses on the lingering impact death has on the living, but at its worst it feels like a cheap religious ghost story. Despite some interesting ideas, the movie in the end felt more like a poorly executed mediation on death disguised as a horror movie than anything else.
