Poor doggo! It's not that bad, but fails to really explore any of its ideas. The plot is boring, and it seems the main theme is "do not kill women". Ok great. Instead, it absolutely should have explored the psychology of being unable to have a private thought.

If you shut your brain off and accept the ridiculous premise this movie is quite entertaining. Daisy Ridley elevates it greatly. Tom Holland was also very good. The contrivances are incredibly stupid. Everyone can hear and see what men are thinking. I guess women's thoughts are just too hard to handle. The preacher character was asinine. Despite its flaws, it was still quite entertaining and ultimately worthwhile. BTW: They could have made a truly awesome movie instead of this nonsense.

Chaos Walking moves through pretty scenery for its entire runtime, never truly feeling immersive. The premise is weak, but the plot & execution are painfully contrived to the point of marring the film's revelations. Both Ridley & Holland lack personality, mistaking frantic for a character trait. The concept of being chastised for your own thoughts isn't handled well. Holland crying & being silent was the only thematically (feeling vs thinking) worthwhile moment and even that seemed accidental.

The scene revolving around Holland's dog is where the concept of Chaos Walking really shines. Powerful stuff, but the rest of it is... mildly entertaining. It's certainly undercooked, even while Holland, Ridley and especially Mikkelsen really try. If it was written better, Mikkelsen would have played a memorable character but it was dry. Aside from that, some nice music, but it kind of putters along, unable to truly find its emotional resonance outside of the dog scene.

Well, the idea of men thinking about anything other than sex after 20 years without women is pretty unbelievable, but even worse, that nobody thinks about it when a woman actually turns up! If you are going to have a "good idea" at least make it plausible! This was just a different method of exposition, and it was pretty childish. That said, the movie started out with an idea worth exploring, but it was soon completely converted into a means of giving people mind controlling super-powers. Right

This is one where I disagree with the critics, but it does have issues. Holland and Ridley are fine for what they're given, and Mikkelsen is fun, even if a bit dull. That's mostly the issue too, is that nothing really seems focused. This is a fun watch and I was definitely entertained, but nothing is that gravitating above surface level, it's concept is great, but you could easily do more with it. This plays out more like an action Sc-Fi when potential is there for more. Flawed, but fun.

Just when you thought big, dumb YA adaptations were out of style, another one gets unceremoniously dumped into theaters. It’s less than 100 minutes long without credits, but it feels like it goes on and on. After the first half-hour, I checked my watch every five minutes easily. When the film finally gets to its central allegory, it feels awfully shallow. There’s a lot of thematic potential within the film’s premise, but none of that is explored here.

Like most others of its ilk, "Chaos Walking" runs on a pea-brained, paper thin premise, but employs far fewer conventional pieces of Gen Z bait than others do. Which probably explains why this didn't have the same kind of splash some of its peers did, but also explains why I didn't hate it with a passion too.

It's full of mistakes *It's a simple sci-fi moive I'm Todd Hewitt* hundreds of unanswered questions *I'm Todd Hewitt, keep your expectations low and you might like it* acting is not promising *I still kinda liked it I'm Todd Hewitt* and there's Daisy Ridley *she's blonde I'm Todd Hewitt*

After reading the book, I was looking forward to seeing how it was adapted for the big screen and was really happy when Lionsgate sent me a screener. I think for the most part, it does follow the story pretty well - but with any plot revolving around mind reading, things get pretty convoluted pretty quickly. It's just a really messy film and I didn't really care about these people.

Lot's of missed opportunities, and kind of weirdly reductive in its premise: Girls are mysterious and boys dream of baseball too loud? Even with giving the ability to see into some character's thoughts, many characters feel flat anyway so I don't know how they did that.

Interesting concept that lends itself to a lot of potentially creative ideas, but it’s not explored often enough to make up for the plot, which isn’t very interesting on its own. The cast is good and do what the can with the script. The preacher character is ridiculous in a bad way. The pacing is a bit on the slow side, which would’ve been fine with a better story. It’s okay for YA fans, but it could’ve been better.

I'm really angry at how a potentially great concept was wasted with such a forgettable and bad film. It's kind of unintentionally funny, but the problem is it's almost all serious and there's no surprises or good uses of the concept. Some performances were a bit wonky too. The plot has no sense of cohesion, no excitement to it. Any proper attempts at humour play out exactly as you expect it would. Wouldn't surprise me if people start calling this Chaos Flopping one day.

At least the CG is fairly restrained and integrated on this YA romp (unlike Love and Monsters). Underwhelming but passable (compared with other YA Sci-Fi) because of the fairly interesting central premise.

Neat idea, poor and bland execution. Is the pandemic a good enough excuse for this? Somehow the story is completely absorbed by the most boring, awkward love story with zero chemistry between the characters. Everything was screaming low budget, despite landing popular actors. Shallow, chaotic (staying true to its name?) and full with missed opportunities, this movie is definitely easy to forget and regret watching.

Tom Holland shined here. He was good. I never really liked Daisy and this movie proved how forgettable her acting can be. Even Mads did not give anything new. I liked the main concept but they did not go anywhere with it. And the end was a major let down.

Despite the rather awkward use of the film's main premise (thoughts on display), I did enjoy watching this easy flick ... until I thought back on the blatant pro-colonisation message carried by the backdrop of the story, i.e. a planet being colonised and the slaughtering of its sentient inhabitant being treated as a triviality not really worth debating

The only thing that is interesting is that you can talk with your friend about having the inner monologue or not having it. I am pretty sure the director doesn't have it, cause their thoughts are presented way too scattered. Sadly, nothing else here. :-(

The premise is as great as the title is awful & it's mostly compelling to watch how a man handles the fact that he can't hide his thoughts around a girl he's smitten with. But the film adheres to certain non-artistic politically Woke mandates. 1 makes a major plot "twist" very predictable (hint: men are awful) & another insists a female lead must be above falling in love. Ironically, the biggest problem is that the villain's motivations & powers (can he mind control men or not?) remain unclear.

It’s a concept movie that sounds better on paper but is still worth a watch as inspirational fodder for better writers. This could’ve been amazing had it been a sci-fi comedy. The frowning approach doesn’t suit an idea where women are able to see men’s thoughts but not vice versa.

Surprisingly good -- the algorithm had me at 45 but I gave it an 86. The script doesn't knock it out of the park but it services the concept with genuine spirit. The plot twists are "action-movie predictable" and there are a few glaring loose ends -- (the alien spackles!?) but it's overall a fun movie.

I don’t know why it’s so overwhelmingly bashed. Although not great by any stretch of the imagination, it does flow. It has zero interesting female characters, I mean, kinda understandable, and the story world is decent, but it’s just another mediocre YA sci-fi.

I thought this movie was enjoyable enough. I think the concept is fantastic, and Tom Holland and Daisy Ridley are both fantastic actors. I really liked the way the "noise" was visualized was stunning, and I found the world really interesting. I'd love to see a sequel to this. Is it my favorite young adult sci-fi story? Of course not, but I think there's enough there to make it work, and there's potential for the series to grow (although that seems unlikely now unforutnately)

Some fun ideas in here but they all seemed to have been overlooked by the writers! And why aren't any of the characters asking questions about everything? What's the deal with the Spackles? I assume they're being saved for a sequel.

Doesn't quite reach the potential it had. With it's stars Tom Holland, Nick Jonas & Mads Mikkelsen, and a fairly outlandish scenario, which felt like a post-apocalyptic alien western, it made for a solid foundation. Perhaps had more potential as a TV-series than a one-off, for it took some time to get used to the more sci-fi elements of this one. So a multi-part creation getting to know the characters better would seem like the better option. Here you just get to know them and it's over.

Between its strong cast and solid base concept, this movie had acres of potential. Unfortunately, the only time it elects to make good on that is during the (admittedly cool) final confrontation in which Tom Holland and Mads Mikkelsen convert their noise into telepathic powers. Had the whole runtime been about that rather than its cartoonishly hamfisted gender politics and cringe-inducing dialogue, this could've been a huge post-franchise launching point for its two leads, and a modern classic.
