Charley's Aunt (1930)
Charley Wyckham and Jack Chesney pressure fellow student Fancourt Babberly to pose as Charley's Brazilian Aunt Donna Lucia. Their purpose is to have a chaperone for their amorous visits with Amy and Kitty, niece and ward of crusty Stephen Spettigue. Complications begin when Fancourt, in drag, becomes the love object of old Spettigue and Sir Francis Chesney. (imdb)

Charley's Aunt has been a popular cross-dressing farce for over 100 years with countless versions been made. This is the first talkie starring Charles Ruggles as the aunt. And it doesn't really work, does it? The story is silly enough in itself and for this sound version the comedy is mostly cringe worthy. I prefer Charley's Aunt (1925) with Charley's brother instead.
