Essenay had bits and pieces of Chaplin footage lying around from his days with them, and anything with him in it was a sure sell, so they'd be darned if they didn't figure out something to do with it. In this case, it's a disjointed batch of largely unused takes from a two-reeler slapped together into a one-reeler. There's some good physical business that Chaplin was in fine form for mixed in with some that should have stayed on the floor. No mystery why he never liked releases like these.
