The best bit here is when Charlie Chan shoots a guy in the balls and his girlfriend asks "Are you alright?!" That is literally the highlight of the film, which is a goofy, incomprehensible mess. The plot (especially the resolution) is just baffling and the attempts at humour with Chan's son and his sidekick are painfully unfunny.

With no Mantan Moreland in sight, this Charlie Chan mysteries loses one of it's key ingredients in why the Monogram-era Chan mysteries were so much fun. In his absence the mystery becomes dull in parts you know he would have been a valuable asset. You still get the usual Chan bits from Sidney Toler, but with no proper sidekick, Dangerous Money (1946) becomes one of the lesser ones in the franchise.
