The earliest surviving Charlie Chan movie that features Warner Oland (his second as Chan). And it's quite interesting as it features Dracula (1931) stars Bela Lugosi & Dwight Frye, along with a few other smaller named actors. I didn't find the actual murder mystery all that good, but with Lugosi and Oland making it enjoyable regardless.

I wish I'd known that this had the same plot as Charlie Chan in Rio, but there are a number of differences at least to keep it fresh. The most notable is the on-location shooting in Hawaii which is nothing short of gorgeous. Lugosi turns in a good role as a mystery man with a past and doesn't camp up the part one bit. Not a lot going on, but the atmosphere is wonderful.
