It could have been much worse. Tim Burton could have directed it.

An endearing children's story made into a film that doesn't quite translate well. The voice work is decent but the things that often make a kids movie memorable are not. It has zero heart, zero progression. Aside from the acting it has nothing to capture the minds of the adults.

They turned up the melodrama too high, I laughed when the pig cried over the spider. My kid didn't seem to care about any of it either way. The crows amused.

Charming adaptation of the novel, with a fine eclectic voice cast for the animals, and endearing performances by the humans. A little too reminiscent of BABE in execution (and not as accomplished) and the impact of the ending is somewhat softened, but overall a fine movie aimed squarely at kids, but enjoyable enough for adult fans of the book. Buscemi's in-joke typecasting as Templeton the rat is very amusing.

NO. (Hang on, full caveat: I refuse to watch this because it was unnecessary, feels like a rip off of Babe that they made it live action, and the original was still perfectly fine - they couldn’t improve upon it so this is just a shameless desperate cash grab & any success in its production is owed to the caliber of the OG story & facets yoinked from the prior adaptation. Come out from behind that cute pig face, vile producers. I see you cowering behind that bacon shield! Fight me like a man!)

Easygoing Babe-lite tale with decent animation and a fitting voice cast that help to liven things up and get you through a plot that can drag a little. The fact it focuses on - and tries to endear you to - a spider at least means it’s a bit different, even adding some emotion towards the end that works surprisingly well and helps pull this over the 3-star threshold.

It tries so hard to pull at heart strings, and it occasionally succeeds. It's endearing with a couple of laughs, and is a well made remake overall.

Not the smartest move to make this live action with recognizable voices and real-ism

This new non-musical version has a few flat spots, and I've already noted most of them. But there's something very endearing about E.B. White's tale of friendship and innocent longing to believe the best of others. The CGI special effects are realistic , the Norman Rockwell-esque setting is welcoming, and the script is funny and engaging. It's Wilbur expressing wonder over the "ordinary miracles" of everyday life, though, that will most charm the kids and inspire the rest of us. (pluggedin.com)

To paraphrase the novel's famous last lines, it's not often a story comes along that can make for both a great book and a wonderful movie. Charlotte's Web isn't both.

Decent family fare that's pretty cute and well-acted voice-work. It may not appeal to everybody but it's some solid stuff.

"Julia Robert spent 2006 catatonically voicing an ant in The Ant Bully, a film no one saw, and a spider in Charlotte's Web, a film that every child who poops their pants can stand to benefit from." - Ed Gonzalez
