Chasing the Dragon

Rewatching this movie with good subtitles made a huge difference. This time I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's an epic Asian Godfather story set in Hong Kong. The bonds between the 2 protagonists were impossible not to appreciate. Donny Yen effectively played a young man and his much older self. Great cast. The plot moves quickly and covers a lot of ground. I'm glad I was able to find good translations so I could appreciate this movie. It's entertaining and very worthwhile.

I enjoyed this take on the drug trafficking/gangster genre. Andy Lau was the real highlight and he stole every scene he was in. Donnie Yen was well with the dramatic role even if he struggled in a few parts. This is a fast paced film that just gives the viewer an over view of a much larger story. Very entertaining.

boring,predictable,forgettable. Lee rocks the more interesting character with his scheme to, ah, uh, er, well he appeared to have been really good at crime stuff and juggling crime people and corrupt cops. But you're gonna tell me the typical gangster is more interesting than a senior police officer who masterminded a $500 million empire?everythings so lightly touched upon as if I'm supposed to have familiarity with these people and their actions.
