Cheerleader Camp

I waited years to watch this after having it haunt my dreams back in the days of VHS Blockbuster horror aisle VHS cover lookin' and 7 year old me missed out on watching a 350 pound man's bareass wiggle out a window and fart in a counselor's face.

Wow, this one was bad, I mean slow, dull torture bad.

A nice surprise! I was expecting yet another silly, low budget 80's horror movie, but this one (slightly) rises above the rest. Decent acting, good pacing, the kills are unfortunately unoriginal and the blood an guts are not that frequent, but theres a twist at the end, didn't see it comin..like..at all! These kinda endings are one out of a hundred! believe me, ive watched hundreds of horrors! A must see for the fans of the genre. One of the holy grails of slasher movies!

I wanted to like this. Given the premise & setting I was expecting a fun- if basic- slasher with a few nice kills. Instead, I got one of the most poorly written, acted, & technically put together horror movies I've seen maybe ever. The mystery is terrible, with clear red herrings everywhere & a twist any genre fan will see coming from miles off. The kills suck. The characters- including heroine Alison- suck. The acting is bad, with even Russell clearly not caring. The plot sucks. This is a dud.

This is the movie to watch if you want to know how to do a slasher wrong. The set-up is bland and overused. The kills are not inventive and many of them take place either of screen or the camera pans away right at "the" moment. Despite being filled with "cheerleaders" the sex/nudity is minor. Some of the teenagers are actually balding. And the killer is quite obvious.

Low budget slasher which is a step or two down from Sleepaway Camp, but still has that certain 80’s charm. At times the comedy goes overboard and resembles a Porkie’s clone but there are also a couple of surprisingly gory scenes and a grim ending. Slasher fans should give this a try.
