Chikan gifu: Musuko no yome to...

Odd little Japanese pinku about a young widow named Noriko who lives on her father in law's dairy farm with him. The old guy is kinda senile and his favorite cow Bessie is long dead, but Noriko faithfully goes to the barn each morning, naked and on all fours, pretends to be Bessie and moos away happily as she waits to get milked. Yeah. Tons of nudity and plenty of simulated sex, as well as the um, milkings...and the story was actually pretty decent. It was less than an hour long, though.

Embedded admist all the cheesy sleaziness is some beautiful emotional acting. Could cut all the cheap scenes out and this would still form a decent watchable cinema - cant say that about most films that fall into this category.

Top badass moment? When she starts mooing; that cracked me up. Dementia is terribly sad and distressing to deal with. This film provides some useful insights into ways families can cope with its effects. It also takes an impartial look at the decision-making process behind the consideration of moving a sufferer into permanent care or nursing accommodation. I do need to point out that the concepts and methods outlined are unlikely to be endorsed by the NHS. No cats, chainsaws or decapitations.
