Child's Pose

Excruciatingly human. It's really really good in one scene, when the two mothers weep over their lost sons, you'll know it when you see it. Kudos, Luminita Gheorghiu!

Powerful film. Storytelling and acting are flawless, and I like that it doesn't need to use it's upperclass setting as a veneer to hide other flaws. Just the camerawork is a bit too hectic at times - although it does allow for a handful of strong one-shots.

It may seem slow and dull, but it's actually pretty brutal.

takes a situation people don't think they could find themselves in and makes it universal

Motherhood continues to be a pivotal subject in Romanian cinema, so it's not surprising that Child's Pose works as a poignant POV narrative about an oppressive mom trying to take over her only son's life after he accidentally killed a poor kid on the road. Netzer's imagery could have been less dependent on a restless camera, but, as this is not intended to be visually stunning, his vision looks effective in the last 30min, when mom and son go see the kid's family. Animal Kingdom has a peer.

Çok yönlü , zengin ve güçlü bir film. Sadece anne-oğul ilişkisi gibi yorumlanabilecekse de, tüm ailenin dinamikleri üzerine bir film. Toplumdaki sınıflar arasındaki uçurumu da tüm keskinliğiyle ortaya koyması cabası.

If only they had not choose this anxiuos handcamera. But I think it's more a film about the dynamic of those to persons than their inner conflicts. So a collected, calm, well: stady camerawork would've expressed the tension between those two, that is really well worked out in the acting and the script. The scene between Grandma and the daugther-in-law is brilliant!

The movie gets a lot of points for its unusual angle (story-wise) and outstanding acting. Too bad it was shot by a drunk guy in a storm.
