Franco's films are so strange, you never know what is his exact attitude. Here, he seems to be preaching that the American life is too materialist and there is a division of labour even in caring for one's relatives and even for mourning, but one the other hand Tim Roth is a materialist too in the sense that he releives his agony of losing a child through others' pains. I love his cinematography and style but stories he tell have nothing to do with my world.

Beautifully made character study, even though the backstory of loss and theme of a fractured family isn't entirely fresh at this point, and the final scene may be a bit gratuitous. It is nevertheless quite bold to portray a protagonist engaging in such work on film, and the psychology is convincing. The writing and execution are generally excellent, and the frequent ellipsis keeps the audience engaged. Roth shows his versatility in playing this subdued and sensitive role.

For Chronic (2015) Tim Roth is again produced by Gabriel Ripstein who he'd just done 600 Millas (2015). And this follows the same style of just going with the flow of it's character in a quiet manner, with a very different subject. Instead of border outlaw stuff, Roth plays a home nurse, slightly depressed with depressing patients in depressing situations. And it is depressing viewing... and unfortunately lifeless.
