Mostly known for the Street Fighter scene with Jackie as Chun Li, the movie outside of that is actually a pretty solid, fun and enjoyable movie. A great mix of comedy and martial arts, I see this as one of the more fun movies Jackie has ever been involved with.

i like jackie chan, but in this movie he was a bit too much. the fighting was, as always, great. i always look forwards to the outtakes at the end of the movie.... they are the funniest.... you can see how funny of a man he is and how much enjoyment he gives his colleges.

Anime style antics do not translate well to live action.

Very odd, almost overwhelming with the endless slapstick humour. A big product of its time and of what animes considered cool then. Part of me was tempted to score lower because of how off-putting the childishness was at time, but the rest of me found that it left you wondering and kept you interested in figuring out wtf. I think it could be a fun movie for kids though, even with the horniness of some characters

Viewed August 3, 2021. Even accounting for the fact that this was directed by Wong Jing and based on a Japanese manga, this is so much stranger than I expected. Wong doesn't take much advantage of Jackie's well-known talents, but it's fun to see him make his way through such a cartoonish world. The Street Fighter sequence is a highlight.

Adapted from a popular Japanese manga series 'City Hunter' is about a womanizing private detective with a silver tongue and wandering hands. Dressed like an extra in a Miami Vice episode, or perhaps more accurately like a man who had raided the wardrobe on a Duran Duran music video set, Jackie Chan proves quite adept at playing the lecherous creep. Although his catchphrase is clumsy, it does also fit his persona "The City Hunter is my nickname, fighting crime's my game".

eh, you've seen one zany manga adaptation, you've seen them all. mainly notable for the over-the-top 90s art direction and jackie chan dressed as chun li.

Fairly amusing - for five minutes. And you know, if I didn't already know the consequences would be disastrous I'd love to see Hollywood break out like this into experimentalism. In many ways HK studio cinema has been more progressive than Hollywood... But enough. As the film goes on it becomes less and less bearable, and the by the final scene we were really well over this dumb crappy movie.

ONLY memorable for Jackie Chan in Street Fighter II cosplay, the rest is pretty awful.

Based on a famous Japanese anime, this takes Jackie Chan's wackiness to the extreme. Apparently Jackie Chan made this after a request to his Japanese fans which role he should make. But frankly he's totally miscast as the womanizing lead. Some of the goofiness works and the energy of this is so high it at least never bores. But it also show that the typical banal humor, that's barely passable animated, doesn't work in live-action. This movie is famous for its Street Fighter II parody.

Based on the popular comic and anime of the same name, Jackie Chan plays the titular role of City Hunter: a detective with a one-track mind when it comes to the ladies. If you dimly recall seeing Jackie Chan dressed up as Street Fighter's Chun-Li somewhere, it was in this movie.

Other than the Jackie Chan as Chun-Li fight scene, this movie was pretty damn terrible and I like City Hunter.

Perfect combination of action and comedy. More precisely, martial arts action and really dorky comedy. Even better.
