Clancy Street Boys

This is a typical Monogram cheapie directed by William Beaudine that runs just over an hour and that seems to be way too long. This one actually has a promising start with Gorcey being hunted by a rival gang and the police, which is revealed to be everyone just trying to celebrate his 18th birthday. By the time his rich uncle arrives, it's all dreary capering.

A East Side Kids entry I liked better than most of the other silly B-flicks they poured out. Helped to have a Noah Beery as a roaring cattle man with a hoard of East Side Kids trying to pretend to be Leo Gorcey's brothers and sister (poor Huntz Hall). Even "Sunshine" Sammy Morrison had to be a brother to make the numbers right. Simple plot, the action came a little too simple, but I guys they had to have some kind of gimmick other than the scam the kids were trying out.
