Essentially a dumb and corny love story with unlikable protagonists. I can't decide if the film wants to be taken seriously or not.

Not as light weight as I thought it would be. Good humor and use of music.

It's like Rushmore but without all the filmmaking ability and quality actors. Still has some charm to it and it made me chuckle. I got to get around to reading that Caro tetralogy on Johnson.....

The first ten minutes or so had me thinking this was going to be unwatchable but once it finds its footing its actually quite good. The last act isn't paced quite how I would like but eh

A couple of smart but unusual 16 yrs old get together to run for a seat on the local school board. They were both over-achieving, intelligent and a little awkward. The love story between them was a bit unconvincing. It is engaging and entertaining light-hearted fun throughout. Worth watching and kid-friendly. Good music and production quality as well.
