There's something very, very, very unsettling about this movie. Every time Mary Steenburgen is on screen Martin Short's 10 year old character (fuuuck) is destroying her with his eyes. He's 10. He is a 10 year old boy. A 40 year old man. That's playing a 10 year old. I . WHAT IS THIS,. why, whyhyhewwhhywhywyal I just sat there watching this like this: >:I

Holy shit it is creepy to see a 70 year old Short playing this kid. It's haunting and unsettling and pains my soul to know this is out there, still be watched accidentally by small children with access to video on demand.

Clifford is a pure cinematic distillation of someone who hates children with every fiber of their being.

CLIFFORD could've been really good if the people making it had capitalized on the story's potential for horrific black comedy. As it is, it's saddled with a lame framing device and takes a while to get going, but if you realize going in just how unsettling 10-year-old Clifford (Martin Short, creepy in every way possible) is, the mayhem he engenders can be quite fun. Charles Grodin, as his put-upon uncle, gets some good opportunities for psychotic comic menace in the last act. It's worth a look.

Another one of those movies I have no idea how I ever ended up watching considering lack of an iota of wanting to see it. I don't know whether I was drunk, high or whatever, but not even being either or both could redeem this film to any degree. Dreadful.

Sometimes people forget that there is a lot of blood in their body, but Clifford reminds them of it. Halfway through the picture, the viewing audience will look down and notice that they've slashed their own wrists. Look at all that blood! Much more interesting than the movie! I sleep now

What the hell were they thinking when they made this. There is nothing about this that could have ever been considered a good idea.

The sight of Martin Short acting like a ten-year-old boy was funny for approximately 60 seconds - not even enough time to fill an SNL sketch. The rest of the movie was an unfunny mess. It COULD have been funny, maybe. But instead it was just odd. Who is this movie for? Kids won't like it since there are no kid actors in it. Adults will hate it because it's stupid and creepy.

Stupid humor, and a whole cast full of overactors, but Martin Short saved it from being truly horrible.

I don't even know what they were trying to do. Apparently the pitch was "The Bad Seed as a comedy", but first, a comedy is supposed to have jokes; second, the guy the kid is tormenting is as awful as he is; third, the framing device and the ending are about the kid having to... learn to be good? Because if a 10-year-old acts out, the parents have no responsibility; it's the kid's job to earn the forgiveness of the guy who tried to murder him! The "evil kid" genre is awful, and this shows why.

a cowardly film. there is is a great dark comedic premise here but it, like many others, is betrayed by its filmmakers in a fruitless attempt to appeal to a mainstream audience. the ending rings hollow, and the rest of the movie doesn't go as far as it should. if this were an R-rated comedy about a man murdering his nephew it could have been one of the funniest movies ever made.

I am glad this film exists. Not because it's fun to watch, but because it's so bizarre. There are some funny moments, but you could also just watch them on YouTube.

The main actors do a good job with their roles in this film. However the script needed major work still. The characters are to one note and there are to many unrealistic actions by them. Overall this film is disappointing.

Curdled satire of precocious children movies and saccharine family comedies that, in the end, can't quite commit to the bit. But boy, when it does go dark, it's damn funny.

So the joke is Martin Short, a grown 40 year old man, is playing an obnoxious 10 year old boy, except the movie in no way at anytime acknowledges it, choosing instead to turn the creep factor up to the max? It's not funny, it's unnerving, but it kinda has to be seen to be believed.
