Clockwise

The opening 15 minutes and the final half hour are pretty funny. They use awkwardness and exaggerated reality to some funny ends and Cleese is terrific. The stuff in the middle, however, is the worst sort of comedy, drawing out nonsensical misfortune and expecting laughs. I'm glad I stuck through it for the final half hour, but I can forgive that big middle section.

Decent comedy, some good laughs but nothing spectacular.

Underrated consistently funny film.

It's an absolute scream. If you loved Fawlty Towers (and who didn't?) this is much in the same vein and almost as brilliant.

Final sequence is fantastic but the rest is a little weak. Cleese is very funny as usual.

Mistake - When Mr Stimpson drives into the police car you can see damage to both cars; when the police car drives off the back end of it looks unblemished.

Clockwise is an amusing film that has a slight pacing problem. This is likely due to the screenplay requiring every side character that Cleese's character encounters to be a bit more of a hapless moron than he is. After a while the silliness gets a little tedious. It's an odd sensation when the culmination at the end of the film is both appropriately climactic and underwhelming simultaneously. Cleese carries the film, though Maiden does well as the straight-woman. Good, but room for improvement.

I thought the humour was weak, the story and characters unengaging and the pacing very slow. Did not finish watching it.

The kind of movie that people call a comedy not because it's funny but because it's too lighthearted to call anything else. Adequate.

Not without comic potential, but it became a drag to sit through.

Fairly amusing comedy.

The opening school scene is the strongest part of the film, the rest disappoints, the pace drags and other characters are underused.

Amusing but unspectacular romp held up by some decent little performances (not least Cleese in semi-Fawlty mode) and a nicely paced, silly script. Watching it as an adult the journey doesn't seem half as long or eventful as it did as a kid, and the climactic speech comes across as even more of a disappointment than it did back then.

Funny, totally unbelievable characters and motivations. And weak ending.
