This one is quite frustrating: the Paladine backstory is intriguing and the atmosphere is occasionally quite eerie, but the film is showing the limitations of it's budget as well as the lack of skills of it's director and actors. The tone is also an odd mix of a realistic thriller and trashier horror film which leads to a conclusion that is a bit too similar to Skeleton Key - although I wouldn't be surprised to hear that it's ripping off a third film/book.
