I don't really know what to think, I loved the first one, so maybe that's why this one sucked so bad, or maybe it was just so lackluster and dumbed down that I wanted to walk out of the theater but didn't.

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 is a disappointment when comparing it to the original. It's a children's movie, not a family movie. Most of the jokes are aimed at kids, there aren't any important themes that'll appeal to the adults or older teenagers, and the characters concluded their arcs after the first film; there's nowhere to go here. The film is colorful and vibrant, and the creature design is fantastic. It works as an animated children's movie, but it's not as good as the original.

The characters had their arcs in the first film and they don't really go through anything new here. The original had interesting ideas and humour that appealed to both adults and children. However, in this sequel, it seems to be all for the kids. That's fine, I guess, but it definitely felt a little flat because of it. I still liked the bright and colourful animation, and I will admit to enjoying the puns. I didn't hate it, I didn't love it, but I'm also not sure if I care that it exists.

It's pretty to look at and the characters are mostly sympathetic. It also has some funny moments, but mostly it's just very rote, formulaic storytelling with no surprises other than a couple of throwaway gags.

Lots of puns. Lots of color. Lots of yelling. My kids liked it; I napped. What's the deal with this trend in movies lately where characters meet their childhood idols, and it turns out their childhood idols are evil jackasses?

3D. What is going on with this sequel? It's not exactly unimaginative, but there's no charm or character growth that was a big part of the first movie. I guess the best thing I can say is that it's a typical children's movie sequel where they try to capitalize on the name recognition and toy marketability. Fav scene: screwing up at the company presentation.

It amps the visuals but looses in charm to the first instalment. Should have been a DVD bonus short.

It's been about a decade since I saw the first one so it's hard to compare, but from what I remember that definitely felt wittier and more original than this. Having said that, the animation is still impressive and the artistry in forming living monsters out of everyday food is the type of creativity we should see far more often in animated movies.

201213 A surprisingly good sequel, which I've watched a couple of times now. The food creatures amp up the cute to new levels and the whole cast of characters make important contributions to the plot (which is actually the moral, isn't it?). Flint flirts with anti-hero status as he struggles to see his childhood hero clearly, but it's relatable. The digs at the deeply narcissistic pseudo-inspirational leader land well.

A respectable sequel to the surprisingly good first film. Lacks a bit of the unusual originality of its predecessor, but perfectly likeable.

Not as good as the first one, with quite a few cringe-inducing moments. But I still come back to it regularly for its nice message and the super-cute foodimals (seriously though, I had to crochet myself a marshmallow with eyes because they were just so adorable).

Same score as the first one simply because I believe it really did not lose any of the magic from the first one. It created its own story worthy of a sequel to continue on this adventure with some lovable misfits and some cleverly created food animals. A cool high concept animated film that keeps you invested through out. Another family fun adventure.

One reviewer noted, "It's a children's movie, not a family movie." I guess that's why this one didn't thrill me. Entertaining and funny at times, but too "childish" for me I guess.

Amped-up animation featuring the fantastically imaginative foodimals (the accompanying puns were a delight as well) keeps this thing afloat in spite of the generic and painfully predictable plot (the left-hanging dad neglect thread probably would have been more interesting; the environmentalist sub-theme that came to a head in another wacky climax certainly was). The main characters lose a little of their luster, but Chester V is a pretty funny addition (see his super bendy arms).

The first one was pretty decent with its offbeat humour and super fast kiddie slapstick. This one, however, just feels tired and irritating. Grumpy I may sound, but perhaps a screaming and squirming mass of children would still enjoy it.

Better than the first, though I don't understand what they can eat. If all the food is sentient [except sardines, apparently] what do they eat?

The first one was awful and painful to look at. This one at least looks halfway decent, though it seems the screenplay involved just taking Jurassic Park, The Lost World, and pasting in a series of the dumbest food puns possible. The Steve Jobs parody stuff is surprisingly toothless as well.

It does not quite live up to the brilliance of the first film but retains enough charm to be worthwhile. The main seems to be the plot which felt forced and contrived to me. The characters and dialogue is still sharp, wacky and generally hilarious.

It's "Jurassic Park" where the first was a disaster film, but there's a lot missing, especially on the writing staff. The animation is beautiful, there are a few decent jokes, but it pales in comparison to the first.

The first Cloudy crackled; this one merely pops. The main problem is the story, which is less full-fledged than that of its predecessor. Still, laughs are in absolute abundance, and they run the comedy gamut; points, too, to the stunning visuals and creative flair the flick is so utterly imbued with.

Well, if some inventor could actually create a cute-mobile in the real world, then movies like this one would keep us motoring along for some time to come. This sequel is nothing if not silly and sweetly (quirkily) cute. Even the big corporate bad guys in this tall-corn tale have an abundance of idiosyncratic fun working in their favor. (pluggedin.com)
