In Asia's safest city, the police have long been untouchable. Approaching midnight in Hong Kong, police headquarters receives an anonymous call: a fully loaded police van carrying the force's most advanced equipment and five highly trained officers has disappeared off the grid. The hijackers possess direct knowledge of police procedures and are already several steps ahead. The police must meet a list of demands to ensure the hostages' release, including the delivery of a large ransom. (en.wikipedia.org)

A fun little police double-cross type movie, but when the closest Hong Kong analog is "Infernal Affairs" you've got some mighty big shoes to fill, so big you shouldn't even bother. The story is a little more generic action/thriller, and just not quite as good, but in the world of mindless police thrillers, this one stacks up just fine.

Very good performances from the cast keep it tense even as the story becomes more and more convoluted. It all roughly made sense to me in the end. It definitely stinks of propaganda for "asia's safest city"s police force. Couple of action scenes and they were shot well.

For the most part this was a solid police procedural thriller. Their were a bunch of big names in this film about half of them in little more than glorified cameos. The films starts to fall apart a bit in the final act but it doesn't completely fall on it's face. The set up for the second film was intriguing but not needed. The acting from everyone involved was top notch and helped keep the film tense throughout.

At first the number of characters and titles being introduced made me feel overwhelmed. The overly-dramatic acting, especially for professional senior police officers, seemed out of place. But the plot carries on well enough and the tension never seems out of place. I enjoyed the red herrings. Good ending. This filled the Infernal Affairs mould.
