Scoring this film is pointless. I could give it 20 or 70, depending on my mood or speculations of what Rush's intentions were. Rush has always been a shameless purveyor of excess, but C.O.N is over the top in such an aggressively moronic way that it reaches near meta levels of stupidity. It's a tawdry psychological thriller with a twist so obvious that one has to question whether the entire film was a private joke that only he (and maybe Willis) was in on. A guilty pleasure.

t's Color of Night, an under-rated erotic thriller that has a lot going for it, both good and bad. Bruce Willis(Doctor) a mental health therapist. He goes to Los Angeles to stay at his friend's house. The friend is also a mental health therapist, and invites Capa to sit in on a group therapy session. It seems that, after finding fame, the friend has attracted some negative attention, and he suspects that the death threats are coming from someone in the group therapy sessions.

A good premise (make every character crazy) but takes Hollywood pseudo-psychology to new heights of absurdity. Still, as this kind of symbol-filled psycho-sexual thriller goes, I prefer it to De Palma's equivalent efforts. Director's cut a little better. Makes me feel that movies dating from around the opening of the World Wide Web are stuck in an odd time warp: the furthest development of something, yet at the same time hopelessly dated because situated right at the moment of an epochal break.

This has GOT to be a genre parody. Lousy dialogue--almost as bad as Ruben Blades' performance. Famous in certain circles for being the flick that shows Willis's dick, which I always thought was his best quality. Turns out, according to IMDB, that his penis was deemed too small, so a stand-in was used...figures. At least I can write him off completely now. Note to writers: multiple personality disorder is not a viable plot device. "Sybil" was the ONLY good movie that will ever be made using it.

I love those OTT sexy 90's thrillers, though I have no pretense that they're good. I have a theory that this film was written as a parody of the genre; the plot is so ridiculous that it goes beyond suspension of disbelief. However, this has an ensemble cast of outstanding character actors, and along with Willis they all act their hearts right out; the end result is incredibly fun if you're up for this kind of film to begin with. The group therapy scenes are unbelievable.

Take Basic Instinct and divide by ten, this is a disgrace to intellect. Worst use of MPD ever.

The Rush cut has a narrative coherence that the producer's version does not, but the movie wasn't good enough either way to be worth Rush having another heart attack.

While I have a thing for Jane March, she like everyone else in this flick is truly miscast.

A grave misfortune for Bruce Willis; terrific entertainment for me! This is one of the most unintentionally goofy "serious" movies I've ever seen. Willis as a psychoanalyst is unbelievable, as is all of his dialogue. Richard Rush is an artless, unknown hack for a reason.

Its weird and eclectic mix of quality and incompetence makes the movie entertaining, and at least somewhat enjoyable. The performances are top-notch (not including Ruben Blades and Lesley Ann Warren, who are very cringeworthy), the rest is laughably shitty, and more than often annoyingly so, with the score and the overall direction taking the cake.

Fantastic film, unfortunately you only get the "fantastic" part the first time, after that it's just "pretty good"

Mystifying mash-up of various styles and genres: as if BASIC INSTINCT were written by Agatha Christie for a late 90s TV movie slot, shuffled with some pages from the CUCKOO'S NEST. A fine cast ready to revel in the tawdry melodrama are stymied by Willis' suffocatingly serious and earnest lead performance; explicit (but chilly) sex scenes seem like a desperate attempt to spice things up. Not unwatchable and even quite amusing at times on a derisive level.

Color of Night offers an audacious, visually striking exploration of erotic thrillers with a giallo twist. Richard Rush's bold style and Jane March's mesmerizing performance create a unique cinematic experience. However, the disjointed narrative, predictable twist, and outdated themes detract from its potential. Bruce Willis' one-note performance and confusing tonal shifts further hamper the film.

Overall Enjoyment: 30/40, Plot/Themes: 15/20, Cinematography/Direction: 10/20, Acting/Writing: 10/20 Interesting mystery/psychological thriller with some unintentionally hilarous scenes due to poor direction. Worth watching once just for the laughs, and the interesting-for-a-single-viewing plot.

A truly bizarre premise. Bruce Willis plays a callous, ignorant excuse for a psychoanalyst who stupidly pushes one of his patients to take a header out a seventh story window. This makes him colorblind for some reason and then he courts this tranny using bad poetry for a few hours and kills this guy who is sort of bothering her and then he can see color again. I mean honestly, what the fuck did I watch here?

Take some Brian De Palma story elements and split diopters but make everything twice as silly and you have this oddity. There is an erotic thriller thrown in between a mystery where everyone is crazy. There is a great cast that probably doesn't work because of the writing, but this still entertains. Very silly.
