Clearly not intended to be a solution to a problem, but rather to increase awareness of a condition. It's the starting point to overcoming an illness that the last century's superpower is still battling. The short was even beautiful, in a way; the empathy and understanding of the psychiatrist. I can only imagine this was, and can continue to be, a useful tool for struggling veterans. They must have felt so horribly alone in post-WW2 America, with no idea what was going on in their poisoned minds

Silly WWII informational film about sucking it up and getting back with team to fight the dirty Japs. Reasonably well acted considering the subject matter and the period, however the score is actually kind of distracting at times.

I thought this movie was interesting at first. Seemed pretty subversive for the time. I was surprised, particularly given what I know about Gene Kelly's career. Then the movie ended and I realized the message was quite the opposite of what I thought. Pretty bad in the end.

Surprisingly frank about how dehumanizing military service is. Main character's psychological problems seem to be a completely natural human response to his environment. The conclusion plainly explains that his normal human aspirations and desires are precisely the problem: in the real military, there's no room for heroics, camaraderie, blood lust, character-building, pride or even martyrdom. A more honest depiction of the military scarcely exists in mainstream culture.
