Just out of high school, at the age of 18, Miles Lagoze enlisted in the Marine Corps. He was deployed to Afghanistan where he served as Combat Camera -- his unit's official videographer, tasked with shooting and editing footage for the Corps' recruiting purposes and historical initiatives. But upon discharging, Lagoze took all the footage he and his fellow cameramen shot, and he assembled quite simply the very documentary the Corps does not want you to see. (rottentomatoes.com)

It is disjointed and all over the place, because that's what life on the combat zone is like. Moments of boredom mixed with crazy adrenaline rushes, needing to find methods of coping with seeing all that, balancing between considering the lives of those that live in the area versus the people you are currently living with and relying on. A really messed up documentary that escalates further as you watch it. Definitely not a fun watch, but a very captivating one.

“The Marine Corps is filled up with the most fucked up individuals I’ve ever met.” It's alarming how fucked up these people are. This is definitely the most uncensored and well edited documentary about (the Afghanistan) war I've ever seen, and for that it's incredibly effectual. At times, it's so surreal that it looks like a Hollywood film--like Apocalypse Now, but real. The filmmakers had some amazingly unprecedented opportunity and access and they made the best of what they were given.
