I came in with high expectations and they were met. Would I say my expectations came true? No. Why?

I'll rank this the same as I did "Beyond the Black Rainbow": both films have all the parts (premise, atmosphere, actors) but can't seem to assemble a worthwhile story from promising components. It's like these Canadian kids are trying to catch the last train to Cronenburgh only to keep getting left behind on the platform.

Good premise and soundtrack. But it slips at a slow pace and in a very simplistic solution to the mysteries.

Come True has some good shots as it muddles through an interesting conceptualisation of communality in dreams; unfortunately too many dark scenes and tropey tape footage waste the decent atmosphere that the film has going. The film is a little overlong, with an unnecessary romantic subplot, and Burns seems to throw in the towel with a generic madlibbed ending.

I think this could have been alright without the weird romance angle between the quiet, preying scientist and the homeless 18-year-old who has just been traumatized from his work. There wasn't any real background, and I didn't care about these characters, so whatever I was supposed to be feeling, I wasn't. The plot had me intrigued as to where it was going though, but turns out, it was nowhere. At least the visuals and effects were decent and eerie; maybe a bit too much darkness over detail.

Atmospheric intrigue, a couple of mesmerizing scenes, but the story doesn't add up and the potential for something great is squandered.

The protagonist appears to have only one emotional state, which contributes to the movie feeling agitating, but it becomes tiresome after a while. The resolution and change in her demeanor don't seem to fit well together, in my opinion. Her acceptance of the situation feels strangely sensual, and I find it difficult to comprehend. I believe the emotional aspect of the movie is what feels out of sync and makes this movie seem odd to me. It has a bit of the Devs vibe, but it is executed in a less

Very intriguing concept that slowly turns into a mess, unfortunately.

Enjoyed it quite a bit, but I think a movie needs to be self-explanatory. If you need to go online to search for answers, something failed in the script. JS Stone is fantastic and the horror scenes are very well done.

If Beach House (the band) was a movie. Dark, hypnotic and despite having a decent number of creepy set pieces, it maintains a kind of lumbering, aquatic pace. It's a refreshing depaeture from the usual horror dross. This is a brilliant reboot of the golden era of horror, where the real world was as strange & malleable as dreams and you didn't need 15 minutes of exposition where Dr. Smart explains that the monster is X and is motivated by Y and to defeat it you need Z. Horror is in the unknown.
