Coming Through the Rye

A dime a dozen 'teen coming of age' movie that shortcuts past quality character development by simply attempting to evoke ridiculous amounts of pity for the main character. It's short on angst, despair, or any robust reason for existing outside of "J.D. Salinger is dead so now we can put him in movies." The acting is quite poor (outside of Chris Cooper, of course), which makes the 95 minutes a bit of a slog to cringe through.
