Commandos Strike at Dawn

Well meaning but wooden. Cardboard cutout baddies in the Germans - and even just to view it as a wartime morale boosting film it does not come up to the standards of others.

One of the earliest of Norwegian resistance war movies Hollywood pumped out as World War II was well in progress. Stars Paul Muni as a gentle small village guy who escapes to England to guide the British troops in a surprise attack on the Nazis. Fairly good film, but a bit too forced in making the German's evil and honoring the bravery of us Norwegians. One of the biggest surprises about Commandos Strike at Dawn was the return of silent megastar Lillian Gish to Hollywood after a 9 year absence.
