It continues to baffle me that Jon Hamm is not used more because his charm just makes things work. Confess, Fletch doesn't try to throw back to Chevy and lets the cast revolve around a very effective Hamm performance. Quite funny.

This film has me confessing that this is a good movie. Also, confessing that we need more Hamm (in both a sexual and non-sexual way).

Even when he’s arrested and shot at, nothing ever phases Fletch, and Confess, Fletch follows in kind, adopting a tone of comic curiosity and breezy irreverence, confident that the eccentric particulars of human behavior will be enough to carry it along. Mottola and Hamm make it look easy, but the scarcity of entertainments this satisfyingly feather-light suggests that it isn’t.

it's a nice example of good old popcorn movie where hamm plays an annoying yet kind of charming character. the plot digs at convoluted stories of detective fiction in not-so-interesting ways, but stakes are low enough for the film to have a decent entertainment value.

I think they made a very smart decision in not trying to hamm it up (HA) for physical comedy too much. I like this character better than the Chase versions, even though there aren't a lot of huge laughs. Hamm is charming, funny and clever at times. A good supporting cast rounds it out.

Mostly carried by Hamm, which seems to be enough for entertainment. Good supporting cast and a decent enough plot.

A lot of fun! Hamm is such a fantastic comedic actor and this flick makes full use of his talents while also surrounding him with a game supporting cast and a high hit rate with the jokes and japes. The story is no great shakes, but it’s a brisk and enjoyable watch that I would show to friends.

Jon Hamm is very watchable in this diverting if not particular deep popcorn movie. The crime caper part of it is perhaps a little bit obvious, but it's reasonably good fun.

Decent reboot with a fun performance by Hamm.

Gotta imagine Chevy's review would go something like: "I.M. Fletch, and you're not," followed by socking Hamm in the jaw.

More of an ingratiatingly humorous hang than a gripping whodunit - and all the better for it. The excellent cast plays well to Hamm's comedic strengths.

Above-average comedy mystery. It's going for something more in line with the books, and that's fine. Not for me, as much as I love everyone involved.

50% funny. 100% derivitive. From script to score, Confess, Fletch feels like an overlong TV pilot for [insert lighthearted investigative drama here]. It's occasionally enjoyable but wholly forgettable, with nothing to justify its place within the cinematic realm.

Shockingly generic and not-funny movie. The 'jokes' are propably directly from the book and make sure I will stay away from it. Jon Hamm is also the producer and since he's so heavily involved in this piece of crap, he's giving me a heads up that upcoming projects he's involved in are to be approached with proper hesitation.

If you're looking for something light and fun this has you covered. Hamm is cast perfectly, being his usual charismatic self. Greg Mottola lends a competent hand to the proceedings, elevating the content just enough as to not be a bland and soulless remake. No, it's not as hilarious as the Chevy Chase original, but the crime elements are done better. Not great by any means, but good enough that I would for once welcome a sequel.

Some of the gags don’t land (half the movie’s dialogue is delivered in an absurd Italian accent) but it’s silly fun for the most part. I liked Hamm’s Bateman impression

A great example of the kind of film that feels like they don't get made anymore. Tremendous fun for the first hour or so, genuine laughs and a story ripping along. The ending is a tiny bit flat though.

Another nice surprise, John Hamm's portrayal of the classic Chevy Chase character was on point. Fun movie.

Sorely missed Harold Faltermeyer at the scene breaks. But otherwise, this was a lot of fun. Never as outlandish as Knives Out or as bloated as Branagh's Poirot but a similar "they don't make movies like this anymore" kind of movie. More movies like they don’t make anymore would be great.

Gotta love such a delicious little spy whodunit, art theft comedy with a committed cast having so much fun -- Annie Mumolo's character made me laugh so hard, Hamm seems to be having the time of his life. Just great, classy, elegant entertainment from start to finish. Best of its kind since the first Knives Out.

Mildly entertaining. Not really funny. I kept picturing how Chevy would have delivered the jokes and it was funnier.

I really wanted to like this. I've never read the books, but the original Chevy Chase Fletch is one of my favorite comedies and I thought Jon Hamm was an inspired choice to play the part. The director has also done a couple of good ones, but they just don't find a right tone for this; the comedy isn't funny and the detective side isn't very interesting. It was fun to see Kyle MacLachlan in a substantial role and I thought he did a good job, but it's a pity that the film just doesn't take flight.

It tries for a slyer, smarter Fletch reinvention, but it's not quite my tempo.
