Confidential Assignment

This buddy cop comedy has literally all of the tropes & cliches of the genre. There's a hardboiled super serious North Korean Cop and a clownish comic relief South Korean Cop. Their temperaments and goals clash. They call each other communist and capitalist with disgust. But it's a sausage party, the women characters are badly drawn, fridged , and damselled. The third act is a complete fuck up of a mess. At one point I fell asleep in the cinema.

Hyun Bin & Yoo Hae-jin team-up as North- South-Korean crime busters. Easy digestible action and lighthearted charm. Not exactly groundbreaking, but provides a good dose of entertainment, and I doubt it had any other intentions beyond that.
