Consuming Kids: The Commercialization of Childhood

Well-done documentary about a very important question that does not receive anything like the attention it requires. Greater depth would of course have resulted in an even better film, but the filmmakers do make efforts to avoid too much dumbing down. Should be complemented by a thorough reading of Bernard Stiegler, especially his most recent works.

Luddite scaremongering from ultra-conservatives. "There is child marketing. Let me count the ways. It's evil." You know this already. This doco says nothing except that the industry makes a lot of money, and also they're pedophiles. Every line sounds like it's coming out of the mouth of Helen Lovejoy. No actual analysis, no insight, no real investigation of anything real. I recommend you watch Century of the Self instead and learn something.
