Convoy

Solid and suspenseful with some ambitious effects attempts. Easy to see why Hitchcock liked Tennyson so much.

It clearly is a product of its time, being made in the 40s during the war with its class differences on the ship, patriotic undertones with every Brit being an extremely civil, decent person. The movie sweat Britishness from every pore. Typical movie that passes the time okay on a Saturday morning, but isn't highly memorable.

Clive Brook in a good old sea battle leading his battleship against the evil Germans in the Convoy (1940). Enjoyable one as they do a lot with the characters instead of simply focusing on the cannons and explosions. It perhaps tries harder then what it's capable of delivering, but they do a fine job of covering up any limits in the production.
