Copperhead

Leisurely paced film about 'Why can't we all just get along?' that raises some interesting questions in a United States now sharply riven between red-state and blue-state. If you like cinematic recreations of America's past, I would say this is better than most, but it's nothing special.

The production values are meticulous and the locations are beautiful, but the narrative is a preachy, unfocused mess filled with one-note characters and cliches. Plods along at a snail's pace due to over-long scenes and unnecessary exposition. Felt to me like an infomercial for the Province of New Brunswick. Beautiful to look at but flawed under the surface. New Brunswickers will likely get some enjoyment out of the locations and seeing some familiar faces.
