Copycat by name... this suffered badly from lazy and implausible plotting, and seemed oddly disjointed at certain moments, even beyond the cuts-for-TV that afflicted the version I saw. Tried to cover more interesting territory by introducing the agoraphobia theme, but this turned out to involve little more than a few camera effects and a character who had trouble convincing herself to flee the killer. Little to recommend other than the charms of Weaver and Hunter; Connick Jr. did well also.

Patented 90s American psych-thriller... the name choosen in this case is very apt. Avoid.

What works really well in this movie is the leads being of equal attractiveness. Sigourney and Dermot pair up well as pretty but not sexy people, while Holly and Harry are similarly unattractive attractive stars. What doesn't really work is the plot.

I'm pretty sure this film ends up trying to imply genetic determinism in serial killing. Otherwise doesn't do anything original.

This movie feels sort of like "cool, awesome, this is gunna be killer", which then develops into a more "huh? *yawn* what happened? i dosed off a bit there, did it end?" Just kidding, I watched the whole thing and I kind of wish I was asleep.

So so thriller is lifted by a really good cast. Connick Jr. is fucking creepy.

Run-of-the-mill thriller. Not terrible by any means, but instantly forgettable.

A serial killer flick with an impressive lineup of performers, too bad it's so damn formulaic. Connick Jr provides a few creepy scenes, but the other villain is exceedingly dull. Disappointing.

Has a strong "ick" factor but a well-conceived story overall.

The idea of the extremely methodical serial killer held great sway in the '90s for some reason. In retrospect most of these films, including Copycat, have ended up living in the shadow of Seven. Copycat is decent, but really nothing special. Good cast, decent dialogue, but a rote plot and an ineffectual villain.

Not too shabby, especially thanks to the awesome cast.

Interesting idea to play with and to make a movie about. Could have been workoud out better, but the film is more than satisfactory. We get some very good moments with a creepy atmosphere and a well developed plot. Too bad the main character was somewhat annoying and certain aspects missed their purpose.

Been there, done that. Using The Police (the band, not Cops) as a plot device was pretty weak, as The Police hadn't been current in over 10 years.

Aside from Weaver and a semi-interesting premise, I hated everything about this. ESPECIALLY Hunter's obnoxious voice.

Sigourney Weaver is always good, but the creep in this is just a creep. Bit of a weirdo and loser but not really threatening at all despite of what his character is meant to have done. Weak.

Sigourney Weaver is at her best and Harry Connick Jr. scares the shit out of me. To this day, whenever I encounter someone I think doesn't deserve to live, I think in my mind of Harry Connick running his index finger along his throat and mouthing the words, "You're dead...."

iyisiyle kötüsüyle tam bir 90'lar filmi. dönemin sinemasındaki *ilginç* psikolojik rahatsızlıklar, takıntı kültürü, uzman danışman, partner kaybı, film boyu işleyen ufak ama gayet belirgin ipuçları, kamera kullanımı, renkler vb birçok ögeyi bünyesinde barındırışıyla sağlam nostalji uyandırıyor. elbette sadece bu dönemin klişeleri değil ama 90'larda en dibine düşülenler bunlar. ayrıca holly hunter kalender bir tanrıça gerçekten.

This used to be on the telly all the time and I (wrongly) remember the agoraphobia angle playing a much bigger part in the story. Weaver stands out, Hunter pulls off her best Jodie Foster from The Silence of the Lambs impression, the rest of the cast are fine but all a bit made-for-TV. Nothing special, and has been surpassed many times by the surge of serial-killer fare since, but remains a solid thriller nonetheless.
