Symbolically impressionistic. I forget sometimes Christ was first a carpenter, and He eventually hung from a piece of wood. Our Christ proxy, Daniel, also seems destined for a job in a sawmill but stumbles into redemptive purpose: using radical faith to agitate humility out of the proud and forgiveness from the righteous. True to the title, it reexamines what "Christ-like" means. And that might mean ignoring the sawdust in others' eyes and starting to do something about that plank in our own.

A provocative exploration of grief and holiness. Soft light and colours bathe the protagonist in both holy light and haziness, rendering his features angelic and skeletal, while the plot likewise dwells between heaven and earth in its subversion and sensitivity. Subtle and thoughtful in a way that encourages contemplation.

Fascinating, powerful spiritual allegory finds Bielenia's Daniel turning his back on carpentry to become a spiritual leader; all the main players (Judas, Pilate, Magdalene) are here and perfectly intertwine with a moving portrait of a small-town with skeletons in its closet rocked by tragedy. Incredible that so much substance and philosophical food for thought are packed into two hours, thanks to Pacewicz's insightful, compact screenplay; Bielenia's mesmerising lead is also a definite standout.

Somewhat good, but unsure of itself. It certainly has an atheistic manner to it, never quite reaching a spiritual sense in its themes of forgiveness. It's good enough to go with, until you reach the confounding (and badly shot) finale.

Interesting plot. Ending wasn't that much. All in all it did not convince me of faith or revelation. Just some fun along the way.

A fantastic story line which plays out in a way that captures your thoughts and draws you in to the village life where this drama is set. The symbolism is blunt. The idea is basically that a charlatan might offer more solace than a real priest. Bielenia has fitted in his role impeccably. Apparently, Corpus Christi inspired by true events which makes the film even more interesting.

Provoking a modest look at the holiness associated with religion and a priest's image, Daniel serves as a true leader that brings people together not by simple faith but for the greater good. In the end, sacrificing freedom in this Christ-like form, forbids redemption as he returns to his true bloody reality.

Powerful stuff - a little obvious where it's going, perhaps, but riveting for all that, with a charismatic central performance by the wonderfully expressive Bielenia. The second of Komasa's films which I have seen and he is a filmmaker to keep one's eyes on.
