Cosmic Monsters

Most of this one is pretty good. Then the special effects show up, and they look pretty much like something Peter Brady concocted in his back yard (while he was working on that volcano). Unlike the usual plague film, this one throws everything at us, from spiders to lizards to worms.

Dry, convoluted plotting with very little happening. The "climactic" fun is 90% stock footage of insect close-ups, but there is one shot of a corpse having a chomp taken out of its face by some kind of prop... and as fake as it is, I love it. I've got to say though, I just can't hack sustained close-ups of actual spiders; far more effective in freaking me out than half the crap I watch. So in that sense, I guess this is technically one of the scariest films I've seen? Don't judge me.
