Count Dracula's Great Love

English dub. Fun enough erotic vampire love tragedy but the acting wasn't great and the plot required too much voiceover exposition rather than storytelling. Beautiful women in nightgowns whose dialogue hardly exceeds softcore moaning. Fav scene: barn attack with a pitchfork and then the poor farmer gets scythed.

This tragic Spanish love story centered around Count Dracula makes for a slow gloomy tale filled with boobs and blood. The "Prince of Darkness" must search for a willing virgin to join him as his bride in order to complete a blood ritual that will resurrect his daughter, and re-start the Dracula family unit. Despite some erotic vampire action, for the most part the movie is a SLOW drama, and poor English dub aside, the movie fails to keep the audience really engaged with its creeping love story.

I'm not the biggest fan of Naschy, but I've usually been entertained by his werewolf films. Sadly, this was quite a bore. It's a cheap Hammer copy with some nice visuals and Spanish beauty, but Aguirre's direction is lacking and the plot is probably done using bullet points. It has more gore and breasts than average Hammer productions, but it's not enough and all the wandering and repetitive hammond sounds start to try the viewer's patience.

(Elvira's Movie Macabre version) It was probably more watchable because I watched it with the help of Elvira. There were parts of the movie that were great and there were other parts that were just terrible. I liked this take on Dracula. It was unique. I also liked the story about bringing back Dracula's daughter. I was super excited for when she actually materialized. I was looking forward to what was next but they probably kept it for a sequel. I also liked a lot of the gore. That's about it.

Em honra de Javier Aguirre (1935 - 2019). Esse filme tem um roteiro absolutamente absurdo, especialmente em sua meia hora final, além disso, sempre achei o Naschy gato, mas também sempre achei ele demasiado parecido com o John Belushi e ficar imaginando o John Belushi de Drácula é meio desconcertante.
