Essentially a compilation of Jerry Lewis skits. Some are funny, others are not, they all go pretty quickly and while the connection to the main through plot is tenuous it works for what it's trying to do. The ending is pretty solid.

Truly avant garde.

In the 60's, Lewis would have dialed up the eccentricities of this neurotic man to 11, but the manic energy of yore was replaced by middle aged resignation, and the accompanying weariness underlies some of the better scenes where you are unsure whether to laugh. The hit to miss gag ratio is slightly off, but there are several funny scenes, especially an extended one with an uber annoying waitress. It's a totally uncompromising work, which, in Lewis' case, means it's easier to admire than love.

Critics messed with this one, but to see Jerry Lewis (in his mid-50s) pulling off another zany comedy was impressive to me.

Definitely not my fav of his. But respect for what it is. "Long way to take a leak" had me laughing

"Smorgasbord" didn't hit the comedic mark for me. The physical humor that previously underlined Lewis's charm felt offbeat in this film. Whether it's the passage of time affecting the delivery or the humor simply not standing the test of time, it didn't resonate with me, making it a challenging viewing experience.

Bewilderingly weird and stupid enough that i can almost see what someone like Godard could love about Lewis, but i'm afraid to me it's still just weird and stupid. "That's my favorite grenade" though...
