In the vein of so much "Golden Age" Hollywood cinema, "Craig's Wife" is a morality play critiquing the vice of its protagonist, and a bit affected in terms of delivery. Nevertheless, there's a grabbing sincerity to the film and a fascinating second layer to Harriet's obsession with her house if seen through the lens of contemporary gender and class relations. It's especially interesting coming from a female director and female co-writer.

Fascinating psychological drama about a woman and her illusion of a perfect home. I hadn't much expectations going in. Such a generic title and John Boles isn't exactly know for those deep emotional roles. But here he's good. But of course this is one of Rosalind Russell real breakthrough roles as this domestic dominant. I think I'd like it even more had Russell defended herself even stronger against her husband once her little charade starts crumbling, but the story is clever.
