André Deed was one of the most prolific and successful comedians of the early silent period in Europe, particularly in Italy and his native France. His mannerisms were very heavily rooted in music hall farce (which probably is what held him back in the long run), but as we see here, his shorts were still up to date on the latest trends, such as the comic chase fad and stop motion.
