Cross My Heart

I know what you're thinking, because I've been saying it for years, "Why aren't there any extended Martin Short sex scenes in movies?" Well, here's Cross My Heart, in which Martin Short, the actor you know and love and probably lusted after since you first saw him in a fat suit, has a sex scene that goes on for almost twenty minutes from cloth off to leaving the apartment. Didn't know this existed and now I have to live with it for the rest of my life.

Although the cover & title threaten 2 deliver one of those godawful 80's rom-coms, the "Lawrence Kasdan" title card that starts the film is far more indicative of its quality. W/ a focus on character & dialogue that's immediately reminiscent of a stage play it's easy 2 c why he got involved. Short's rubbery face is distracting & too much of the pre-bedroom contrivances belong in a more H'wood movie, but the script has enough feeling & thoughtfulness behind it that it's mostly a pleasant suprise.
