Surprisingly good. Miike totally commits to the juvenile power fantasy premise, but manages to puncture the seriousness with some hilarious scenes and character shortcomings. He also makes the fighting feel simultaneously brutally real and cartoonishly over-the-top, an impressive feat that not many filmmakers have managed to pull off. It does start to drag in the second half (there is no reason for it to be so long) and the final fight in the rain is pretty lame, but it's never not fun to watch.

Everything in this movie that isn't a fight is AWFUL. However, there should be more movies about well-dressed dudes getting in brutal fistfights. Just less mullets, bad pop music, and terrible writing next time around.

Takashi Miike's high school brawling flick based on the manga. The son of a yakuza enters the toughest school in Japan with the goal of uniting all the gangs. Lots of pretty boys posturing and looking tough, but also a decent amount of brutal asskicking. Other than a couple of lame J-pop moments, this flick is pretty cool.

Decent manga adaptation, but probably it would have been more interesting as anime series. There are many characters, even though film is over two hours long, there is not enough time for good character development or even an introduction. For something directed by Miike it is well accessible. Fights are well stylized, but rarely get over the top. Of course, Miike would not be Miike if he did not use some crazy filters. So get ready for some green and teal.

While it's not really that much more than Punching Some Dudes Really Hard; The Movie, I enjoyed the hell out of this. Felt like a weird mix between Mortal Kombat, Fight Club and Saved by the Bell. The fights are pretty cool and the film is funny when it tries to be, only the serious stuff in-between fell rather flat.

Excepcional, la violencia retratada de una forma diferente y el punto de vista de este artista de como son las cosas, solo el lo sabe.

Fuck yeah, the fighting scenes are so awesome. The final fight scene drags on a bit, but it's still very cool. Also the first part of the movie is extremely badass

Some decent fight scenes, but overall Crows Zero is a badly written mess. Apparently, it's based on a comic. It didn't translate well to the screen.

Loved the story, loved the fighting as well. I recently started to watch the show, Gokusen, and I'm glad to see Shun Oguri is doing well.

Why do I keep watching Miike movies? I swear, once I get round to watching Gozu I'm done.
