Min-sik Choi, the man sure can play the down on his luck social outcast, this being no exception. Beautiful fight scenes, especially the final one with the camera weaving in and out of the action, all one take if I'm not mistaken. This isn't your typical underdog boxing film, both sides fill the role, yet neither does. The ending isn't sappy with Rockye-sque music, nor are the fight scenes overtly ridiculous.

Rocky with a twist. Middle aged ex-boxer has hit hard times and returns to the ring to pay off his debts against all the odds. Sounds familiar right? How about a youngster in jail turning to boxing to try and instill some discipline into his life? Oh, that's a cliche too. Only here you have both of them and you've got to choose which underdog to support.

pretty good boxing movie a little long and a bit lame

Entertaining enough, though I found it funny how something so macho as boxing could turn an initially gritty film into such a sentimental mess.

An interesting tale of two sad sacks getting emotionally beat down, physically abused, and generally shat upon. However it all felt a bit empty. There was an emotional story in here somewhere but gets partially lost in its own preoccupation with depicting the cynical Korean urban grind and scenes of nihilism. The acting is solid at least.
