Imagine a sequel so bad that it actually spoils the experience of watching the brilliant original again. This is it. Cube 2 takes what was great about Cube and turns it into a cheesy, formulaic, and completely unsatisfying turkey that wears its ridiculousness with the sad pride of a mentally challenged scout excitedly donning a merit badge for "being special". Don't watch Cube 2. Don't think about watching Cube 2. Don't even talk about Cube 2. In fact, don't even read this review of Cube 2.

Or Cube 2: Cube Harder - Silly but entertaining sequel leans more into the delicious sci-fi time/spatial paradoxes than its predecessor - if it never raises points that are especially interesting (or well developed), the surreal digressions in the imagery and performances (I'm not sure whether Gordon's performance is poor or just leaning heavily into the surreal) make this never less than engrossing, though like Part 1, the finale feels more like a shaggy dog resolution than anything concrete.

They just went ahead and made the same movie as the first one, with slightly different characters, more traps in the cube, and a subtle extension of the plot. I felt cheated, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy being cheated like this.

The screenplay for Cube 2 was a Xeroxed Funk & Wagnalls' entry for "quantum", notes from the back of a Buffalo Wild Wings receipt, and prayer.

Not as good as the first, as it's more of the same, but as I enjoyed Cube I didn't mind watching it again.

Tries to formulaically follow the first one in some ways, with the mentally-unsound somewhat-genius character, the teenage girl, the strong female lead, etc. It's more ambitious than the first movie in some ways, but oversteps its boundaries most of the time. I think they're really banking on the assumption that the audience won't know what a tesseract is, and they use that as a blank check for any unexplainable sci-fi elements they want to throw in, regardless of how nonsensical.

Somehow even worse than the first one? Somewhat improved acting, but less interesting, less cohesive (why does ANYTHING that happens in this movie happen? Does ANYONE have a reason for any of it?), somehow even uglier with these horrible, mashed in CGI effects? Then that Mrs. Paley lady is just the most irritating thing, and while the tiniest of details are revealed at the end about the idea behind the cube, of course, the shaggy dog is just as shot. This time, literally. -sigh-

"Hey look, I found some really neat DIY CGI shareware from 1997. Do you think we could build a movie around it?" "I don't know, we'd have to come up with stuff like a plot, characters, a script, cast decent actors..." "Nah, we'll just make a sequel to 'Cube' and drop all that pesky logic and character development. It's sci-fi, it doesn't have to make sense."

The sequel adds nothing to the first film. Instead, this time they somehow managed to ruin the atmosphere, get even worse actors and make the plot uninteresting, even though they had quantum teleportation! Also the special effects were ridiculous. Don't waste your time on this one.

A movie that looks up to the Sci-Fi channel original movie mold. Awful acting, cgi, & writing - the ending looks like something out of Citizen Kane after the bunk this puts you through.

I wasn't bored by it, but it certainly didn't hold my interest like the first Cube did. Silly to take a relatively simple, effective plot and then (literally) add an extra dimension. Overcomplicated, it totally falls apart near the end.

Not as good as the first, but still very entertaining. Like the first film, I like the setting and plot: What if you find yourself inside a gigantic cube, full of traps that can kill you any second? The individual cubes change position all the time, so you get easily lost. In hypercube, time is also fragmented like a puzzle, which allows for some very unexpected turns of events. Definitely entertaining and offers you the suspense you all so love!

One of these good and bad films. Bigger budget than the original means some pretty cool trap/rooms. The story and character development is weaker this time around, and the one-liner comedy sucked ass.

Not great, but it gets a little better towards the end. Nothing much happens in the early part and it just uses the spatial weirdness to drive things forward with limited success. Characters are okay but nothing gets dramatic until near the end and even then it gets a bit silly.

By far the BEST movie in the trio. Of course Cube must be watched first in order to truly enjoy the scenery and base idea of the film. The acting is even slightly better than the first, and intensely better than the third.

While not the best in the Cube series and with less traps, it's still very entertaining as you see the fates of the people trapped inside, and there are some great effects.

Inferior to the original Cube, but not as shit as people complain it to be. I personally liked the way they portrayed the "hypercube" in the film and while the acting was blatantly dull it didn't kill the mood.

Ugh, how bad acting can ruin a movie. Tho the first one had a cool , original idea, this one is just more of the same in overload, like a good sequel should be. Only for the folks who enjoyed the first one. And this was directed by the DP from QT''s first three? Didn't he learn anything? Good lord...

Apparently all the focus was on the visual style at the expense of everything else. Unfortunately the CGI looks like it came from a mid 90s video game and the jumpy camerawork is just nauseating. The blind autist character is surely a nod to the director.

This one leaves more questions than answers at the end and I would have loved the ending to have been expanded on more. My least favorite of the trio however I still believe it's a decent film. Strays somewhat further into sci-fi and less into horror in this installment.

After success with first Cube -movie, there was better hopes to see something unique again. "Cube 2" was directed by Sekula who is better known as excellent cinematographer. So, the camera work is great and the cube is very claustrophobic. Anything else not so good.
